Pico PT-104 Data Logger Ground Issue

Post by SOUQUEY » Wed Oct 09, 2019 9:30 pm

Hello,
Every time I sit on a chair and get off the Data logger causes a shock when I touch the equipment attached to it. I have tried changing cords and playing around by unplugging each channel one at a time to determine where the short is or problem with the ground. Channels 2, 3, and 4 result in no shock when one is unplugged. Why would these be linked? Any thoughts on how I would fix this?

Thanks,

Ty

Hi SOUQUEY,

If you put a signal into channel 1, how does it look in terms of amplitude compared to the other channels?
Could you turn off the power to the scope (turn off the PC if it's just a USB connection) short the tip to the ground clip on channel 1, and then try sitting in the chair and then getting up and touching the channel 1 connector as before, to see if you still get the shock.

Regards,
