Re: Decoding AM-modulated serial communication

Hi sba923, As you didn't mention anything about the SDK and as you said that you have tried the built in function freq(A) I assumed that you were using PicoScope 6 and knew the process of how to create a Math channel (as all you have to do to create one is press the create button, and follow the pro...

Re: Decoding AM-modulated serial communication

Hi sba923, The custom function was created from observation. I have previously created the instantaneous RMS function, and I knew that it would, to some extent, smooth out the pulse burst, and saw that it creates a group of peaks. I then figured that a low pass filter would completely (or almost) sm...

Re: Decoding AM-modulated serial communication

Hi sba923, The problem is how the calculation for frequency is done and when it is done. The calculation involves counting between sets of double crossing points, so where you get a disjointed set of frequencies or sudden absences the result doesn't instantly reflect the change. You are better of us...

Re: Temperature Dependency of Picoscope 4824

Hi Volke, Is there a specific reason why you are looking at the start-up behaviour? Starting conditions can easily take DAQ equipment outside of the range of operation stated in the specifications for that equipment. That is the nature of equipment that relies upon certain conditions in order for pr...

Re: Total power in spectrum mode

Hi Safar, To answer your questions: 1) A spectrum analyzer, sweeps a narrow band filter over the frequency range of a signal of interest to look at the magnitude of the frequencies. You are effectively performing the digital equivalent when you perform a Fast Fourier Transform, i.e. applying an FFT ...

Re: Measure of SNR seems to bad

Hi egonotto, Sorry for the delay in answering your post. I had to first of all make sure that the following discussion was unaffected by a slight issue that we found in PicoScope 6. When working in Spectrum mode you need to be aware that, although we are working with digital values and you have what...

Logging data from a Wheatstone Bridge

A common customer requirement is logging data from resistor based sensors that have very low sensitivity, such as strain gauges. To achieve an acceptable level of accuracy the solution is not as simple as just using a resistive divider. So what follows is an introduction to recommended methods, and ...

Re: Function generator

Hi mokankanna,

It isn't normal to have a significant drop in level if you are just capturing the generated waveform with no processing, and a fast enough sample rate. Could you post a saved psdata file so that we can see how you have the PicoScope setup.

Regards,

Gerry

Re: Issue with data "resolution"

Hi RobF, Bennog is correct in saying you shouldn't use auto-ranging for your capture, because when you are sampling as slow as 30S/s PicoScope 6 won't have enough data, soon enough to choose a suitable range. It looks as if the problem is resolution in amplitude, because the graphs are limited to ju...

Re: Store FFT traces?

Hi Tom, You can do averaging in the frequency domain (If you go to 'FFT options', i.e. the icon next to the Spectrum Mode icon with the spectrum and arrow image, and under the 'Y-axis Display Mode', in the drop down list select 'Average') but it won't keep traces on the screen, it will replace trace...

Re: CSV file problem with math channels

Hi mkeith, We would need a psdata file to see how you have set things up. To upload a file you need to: Select 'Upload attachment' Select 'Browse' to navigate to the file you want to upload' then, once selected, select 'Add the file' Add any comments you want to add to the file you are uploading in ...

Re: Automatically Increment File Names?

Hi dinhd1, The short answer to your questions is yes, there is a way to set PicoScope to automatically save waveforms in the format that you specified, when using repeat trigger. The buffer numbering is not limited to 32. It will go up to however many buffers have been used for the complete capture....

Re: marker in spectrum mode

Hi cio74 , In Spectrum Analyzer mode there ARE rulers which you can either drag down to measure decibels or voltage between 2 points (the blue squares in the margin), or drag along to measure the frequency interval between 2 points (the white squares in the margin). If that is not what you meant cou...

Hi jimcr, Could you post a screenshot of the display that you are seeing. Could you also go to the menu items 'Help-> About PicoScope 6' and include the window that opens in your screenshot. You can't drag the waveform around horizontally once you have captured it, because the display is showing wha...

Re: Wow and flutter measurement for tape deck

Hi hdrobien, Isn't wfgui free to use, in which case you already have what wfgui offers. I thought that what you wanted was to combine it's functionality with some PicoScope features into a single tool which, as I mentioned before, is what the SDK can be made to do (this sort of tool, i.e. wfgui, wou...
